Syllable Clip Cards
$3.00
Help children in preschool and kindergarten learn to recognize and segment syllables using clip cards with picture recognition puzzles in this engaging phonological awareness activity.
Description
This is a phonological awareness activity. That means we intentionally focus on the sounds in the word and picture clues (as opposed to presenting the written word). In this activity students will practice segmenting words by clapping or tapping and then counting the number of syllables in the word. Students will clip the number to show how many syllables.
This 45-page pack includes syllables clip cards:
- Word Lists
- Skill Headers
- Clip Cards (in color and b/w)
TIPS & IDEAS FOR USE
Cut clip card pieces apart individually. Use the word list/answer key to get familiar with the words used for each picture before introducing this activity to students.
This activity can be done in small groups as part of skill practice, or in literacy centers for independent practice. Choose between using clothespins, play dough, or manipulatives like colored dots, mini erasers, etc. for kids to use as they cover the number to show how many syllables.
Remember to introduce the vocabulary prior to expecting students to do the task independently so they are sure to know the words reflected in the pictures.
